FIRST OF A NEW LINE.
(Peb Press Association.) Auckland, July 27. The steamer Rakaia, the pioneer boat of the New. Zealand Shipping Companv's new Canadian-Australian and New Zealand line, an iveel at Auckland this afternoon from Montreal, Melbourne, and Sydney. She has altogether 1100 tons of cargo for the Domir.ior., to be distributed as under: Auckland and "Wellington, each 250 tons; Lyttcltou and Dunedin, 200. At Melbourne the steamer discharged 850 tons, and at Sydney 750 tens. The principal lines of freight consist of agricultural machinery, paper, and carbide of calcium'. The steamer brc e.ght several passengers from Sydney, including Mr W. A." Beddoe, Canadian Trade Commissioner to New Zealand, whose headquarters will be at Auckland. ..The Kakaia sails for Wellington on Friday.
