PERSONAL.
A telegram from Wellington states that Archbishop Redwood has received a cable froni Dr Cleary, the newly appointed Bishop of Auckland, who is now in Dublin, stating that his consecration will take place in Enniscort-hy Cathedral on Aiieust 21st. Mr Howard Hadley, who has been selected as examiner for the Associated Board's practical examinations, was born in Birmingham and educated at King Edward the Sxith's School there, became a student at the Royal College - of Music in 1592, studying the pianoforte under Frederic Cliffe, organ under W. S. Hovte, and harmony, etc.,-'under Biggs-, Gladstone, and Rockstro. In 1890 he obtained the Fellow-ship of the Royal College of Organists, and for a : short time afterwards held an appoint- 1 ment as organist. This, however, he soon gave- up in order to undertake several tours as solo pianist. In 1897 lie went to Vienna for further study, and a year later to Berlin, where he worked for nearly two years under Processor Honnrich Barth. There are 19 on trios for the examination.
