A CHEERY OPTIMIST.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, July 26. The statement of the affairs of Donald Gillanders, a bankrupt farmer residing at Pollock, was received by the Official Assignee (Mr E. Gerard) today. The bankrupt estimates, his liabilities to unsecured creditors at £238 18s and his assets at £1387 15s, leaving a nominal surplus of £BSB 17s. "Ladies and Gentlemen," the bankrupt stated after accounting for his position, "I am here to-day not to dodge your claims or only to pay part, but to call on those who have the right to pay to put their shoulders to the wheel as I have done, and' am still going to do, to make those who sell me farms give me the true thing. Help me to lighten the burden by making those pay who ought to pay, or ; if youtake every penny I own, I will still be a. happy man, having the best woman in the world, my' wife, and the best baby that heaven could present. I am' young and .will pay every penny you claim."
