The Taviuni is due here to-morrow from Dunedin to load for Wellington and West Coast ports. Messrs Harland and Wolff, the wellknown Belfast, shipbuilders, have hunched the s.s. Pakeha, which they have built to the order of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company for the lat;er"s New Zealand trade. The Pakeha is a twin-screw steamer of about 8000 ions displacement, measuring 500 ft in iength and 63ft beam. She will carry ■j. number of passengers, for whom comfortable accommodation will be provided, and she wiil have a large cargo capacity and will be fitted with the latest in refrigerating machinery and insulated chambers. She will be lighted throughout by electricity. The engines consist of two sets of quadruple expansion type constructed by the builders.
