THE WEATHER.

(Per Pkess Association'.) Wellington, July 11. The Rev. D. C. Bates' summary and forecast are: Saturday evening was stormy in the extreme south, and snowfell on Sunday in the South Island, and especially on the higher levels. The barometer has risen everywhere, and highest in the south. The present indications are for a further rise, with moderate to strong easterly and southerly .vinds prevailing. Cloudy and unsettled weather probably generally, and rain in parts, especially in the North Island. A low pressure area, now advancing from the westward, will probably cause bad weather in the latter part of the week. Christcliurch, July 12. Heavy rain from the south-east and foutli west has fallen generally. The fall in the city last night was an inch and a-quarter. There has been much snow in the back country, and it is anticipated that all the Canterbury n'vers will bo heavily flooded.
