THE KING AND THE CHURCH.

King George, replying to the Church Convocation's addresses, said: "The ends we pursue are in harmony with the Church's teachings, and can only be achieved while we seem in faith and humility. That perfect standard of conduct and sacrifice which has been revealed to Christian men is the foundation of the national glory set in the homes of the people, and can only reimtin unshaken while the family life, race, and nation is strong, simple, and pure amid the complexities of modern social conditions, and the Church's religious and charitable work has assumed a deepened and practical significance.
