TAWAI.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) .- The annual prize and picnic fund social took place in the schoolhouse last Friday' evening: Notwithstanding the unfavorable -appearance of the weather there was a good attendance ] although not as large as on former occasions. Dancing commenced about 8.30 p.m., to the music (piano) played by Mr M'Aleer in his usual first-class style, the M.C. being the popular and genial Mr D. Williams, who, needless to say, carried out, his duty to the satisfaction of all/' Songs were sung during the evening to the pleasure of all by Mr J. Hyland and Mr H. Davidson, Mr M'Aleer plaj'ing the accompaniments. The ladies who had charge of the refreshments were Mesdames Elliot and Pelvin, who with numerous assistants were assiduous in their attention to the wants of all, and were well worthy the praise accorded them. The social was in every respect a thoroughly enjoyable one.
