At the close of the prize-giving Mr Kelly said he had a, pleasing duty to perform, in presenting the Rev. Mr Roseveare .with a Christmas box from the children. As the people were aware, Mr Rosevcarc had for the past three years visited the school every Wednesday morning, from 9 to 9.30 for the purpose of. giving religious instruction to the children; In former years a vote of thanks had been accorded that gentleman, but this year the children went further, and along with the vote of thanks asked him to accept a slight memento of their, appreciation of his work. This consisted of five volumes of Ruskin's works. In accepting this present Mr Roseveare saitl.he thanked them very heartily forj.tlie gift, which lie would value very much. His work ■at the school was a pleasant one on account of the attendance and attention of the children, and he was glad tliat his work was appreciated. Mr Stringer then proposed a liearty vote, of thanks to the teachers for the entertainment that evening. This was carried by acclamation, and after a vote of thanks had been accorded Mrs Mitchell, the children, with their parents, adjourned to the tea tables, wjiere a liberal supply had been provided for all, and to which ample justice. was done.

Mr .Kelly takes this opportunity of thanking Mr Milne for judging the writing - ■
