Mr Mackenzie returned to Wellington by the evening's steamer. To bid bon voyage to the Rev. Dr Clearv ere his departure for his twelvemonth tour round tho world a large gathering met last evening in St. Joseph's Hall (says the Daily Times). Bishop Verdon and a number of prominent denominational clergy were present, some of whom during the evening, after the formal presentation had been made by Father Coffey, spoke eulogistically in reference to the work accomplished by Dr Cleary in his position as editor of the New Zealand Tablet. The N presentation. took the form of a very handsome address, associated with which was a passenger' ticket round the world and a motor .car . The rev. gentleman leaves this morning by the second express for the north, en route for South where a cotisiderable portion of his leave will be spent. He will afterwards visit Europe and thence return-to New■ Zealand.
