LYTTELTON HARBOR PLANS.

REQUEST FROM AUSTRIA. (Per Press Association.) Cliristchurcli, September 1. The Lyttelton Harbor Board was much exercised this morning by a letter from the Austro-Hungarian Consul at Auckland asking for a plan of Lyttelton Harbor for the Academy at Vienna. The Chairman (Mr H. Friedlander) said that lie had not given any instructions in regard to tlie matter. He thought that the proper method would be to refer the applicant to the Government, which was the responsible authority. The subject was debated with some levity by the Board. Mr G. Laurenson, M.P., said he saw uo objection to the reqjiest being complied with. The whole of the information could be got from London by any Government, and the Board had complied with similar - requests for year's back. Mr T. E. Taylor, M.P., said that all the information asked for was contained in the annual reports, which were accessible to anyone. The Board debated the matter at some length, and finally agreed to the Chairman's suggestion, holding that the Government 'should take the responsibility of handing over the plans to foreign countries.
