FROZEN MEAT MARKET.

The Colonial Consignment- and Distributing Company report for the month ending Februarv 12th as follows: — IVew Zealand Mutton.—The arrivals since the Ist .January now amount to 185.808 carcases. This quantity in itself is by no means excessive, although' about average for the time of year, but it is certainly proving more than the condition of the market requires. Canterbury sheep have lost ground to the extent of about id per lb, and tfte top quotation for the best carcases is now only 5;"kl per lb. Southland sheep are quoted at s|d to and N'orth Islands at A large proportion of the offerings appear to consist of last season's meat, judging r rom its stale appearance, and the difficulty in moving this accounts to some extent'f or the weaker value of North Islands. Forward deliveries arc, however, being offered at lower rates than the equivalent of the above prices, but without Finding buyers. Xl-w Zealand Lambs.—Receipts amount to 95,785 carcases. The arrivals of new season's lambs have been mainly from the North Island and have proved of accept' able quality. Values rule about to s?d per ]b, but the demand as yet is very limited and only small quantities are going into consumption. Old season's stocks are not- yet cleared and are selling slowly at prices from 4d to 4id per lb for medium and light weights. Heavy lambs sell almost at- mutton prices.
