Following ,is the rainfall registered by Mr Norton Francis at Hiwiroa (Waimate) for 1908: January - 1.39 inch February 56 March 5.73 April 1.02 May ... .89 June 4.58 July 8.67 August. ... 1.09 September ... ... .75 October 2.68 November 61 December ... .... 3.56 31.52 inches

' ; liast year's rainfall at "Hiwiroa" is considerably ihigher than, Mr Ferguson's Timaru record, which amounted to 29.02 inches, and the Ohristchurch. - Press Company only registered! 25.41. More rain ■was registered during the big flood at "Hhviroa." than oh the Waimate flat, but the rainfall, on that side of the town is considerably more than on the east.
