There is some inquiry locally for fowl wheat, and for this purpose a few lots ?f milling wheat of second-class quality lave been purchased at equal to 4s lid o4s2d at country stations. For millng wheat there is little demand, and myers are not prepared to make advances ipon late quotations. Oats are dull of ;ale. For export £2 15s is offered for haff, while for local consumption up to 33 would be paid. The stocks of potaoes are now practically exhausted and he market has been closed for the season. DUNEDIN MARKETS. To-day's Otago Daily Times reports : It is evident from the continued scarify of offerings in the local market that he whole of the available wheat is in ight, and there is a tendency to coniiiuecl firmness. Some business is re•orted on North Island account at 4s 6d, '.0.b., s.i., or equivalent- to 4s 4£d ex tore, Timaru. In addition one or two mall lines have been offering at 4s 3d o 4s 3Jrd, on trucks, northern stations, or red chaff and Tuscan ; and up to 4s : d for velvet. Bv going up as far north s Ashburton it is nossible to business it 4s 3d.- It is known cu.it- one or wo decent lines in South Canterbury are being held for 4s 6d on trucks, but it is question whether, so far as North slancl and Otago buyers are concerned, ; would not be better to import- from Australia than pay this advance. More specially since failing an advance in he price of Hour millers are making litle or no profit. There is no chiekwheat obtainable loillv, and for medium milling 4s 6d, .0.b., is being asked, or -,s 4jd to 4s d, ex store. A fair demand has sprung up lor bran n Auckland account, and the price has een advanced from £3 5s to £3 10s per m. The Association's tariff stands: Iran, £4 15s for local orders ana £4 10s .o.b. for shipment; pollard, £6, both for ical orders and for shipment. There is no change in the Jrice of our, which is selling freely. The Asiciation's tariff is as follows:—Sacks, ilO 15s ; 100's, £ll ; 50's, £ll 10s ; 25's, . 11l 15s. The shipping price is £lO 10s, nd the Invercargill mice £ll. The oat market continues weak and life- ' iss, and it appears exceedingly doubtful hether any recovery will take place be■vecn now and the marketing of the new .■op. especially aj> there is not any proability, of a further export demand. At lie end of September it was estimated that here were 344,0C0 sacks of oats in the )ominion, and present stocks are roughly apposed to total about 200,000. 'The ievon will find space for only some 0.000 sacks lev West of England ports at i 20s freight, although nearly double that itiantity was offering; and should any more space he available in any other vesel it wili only be at a higher freight—12s 6d or 255. The sale of a line of dims ind Danish is reported at Is 6cL_ f.0.b., ;.i.. but the current quotation for B grade iparrowbills is Is 8d to Is Lo.b., s.i. ; Is 9d for B grade Gartons, and up to Is lOd for A grade Gartons, which are a.iaq} sao;.id as-oqi ji; is only a small demand. For good feed oats'ls 6d ex store is the ruling price. The price of oatmeal remains at £lO iOs per ton. Pearl barley is quoted at £l7. Potatoes.—Prime lots command an advance on rate of last week, and are worth £4 15s- to £5; medium, £2 10* to £3. Mew potatoes: Peninsula grown, 2d per lb Auckland, lid.
