The House is still (8.30 a.m.) sitting discussing the 'Premier's motion for leave to. 1 introduce a Bill to take a referendum on ilw reduction of members. Tlio proposal ii tlmt the electors shall say whether the llouiiC .shall consist of 80, 90, 100, or 125 members. An amendment, moved by Mr Girruthers, .that a Bill be introduced fixing tliC reduction and afterwards submitted to referendum, was ruled out of order. The Premier promises to make a call of the. House for the second reading. There have only been three calls of the Assembly since 1858. A fourth was mado in 1901, bin. lapsed through the Government going out of ofllco before the time fixed.

The proposal for a joint sitting of the House and Senate to deal witli the site fur the Federal capital was carried in tlie "Ifpuse, and the resolution sent on to the Senate.
