At yesterday's meeting of the above. Council, the. Engineer's report was read as follows:

"1. I have inspected tho road leading from Kd-jii Street extension to Ardgowan, past the Phoenix Mill dam. The portion of it east of the Oauia.ru Creek is not hi good order, but nothing more thivn surfacing is required. The portion between this Oamaru Creek and the bottom of the hill west of it is very dirty in wot weather. Nothing can be done, to improve it without gravel or metal. "2. The damage to tho Bobbin Creek road referred to in Messrs T. and A. Patterson's letter to the Council i;; caused by the. flood water from the Bobbin Creek, which flows along and scours out the formation. A shallow channel should be cut along the fenco on Messrs Patterson's and Miller's land, and the material excavated used to form.' a low bank between it and the road. If this were, done there would be

no difficulty in maintjiining the road in good order. About chains of this chain''' would be on Messrs Patterson's land, and about four chains on Mr Miller's

The report, was adopted. At Mr Shaw's lvqmst the Engineer was authorised to have a piece of road formed near Balruddery.

Mansrll. £156: layinc pipe- drain in Knrow township—lift in kinds of the Chairman and member'for the rid in;:; .supply of drain pipes in Kurow township—Messrs .M'Cullum and Co., £46 lis 8d (accopt.d conditionally); travelling on Toka-vahi-'l'apni road—L. Daskr, £3l lfts. The Chairman paid it was n'ocrarv that. th?
