HOME WOOL SALES

Pjek Press Association.

Received September 16, at 11 p.m. London, Kept-ember 15. At the wool sales Messrs Buxton and Ronald Balme Company, Jacomb and Son, offered 10,433 bales. Three-fifths of the offering were New Zealand clips. There was a full attendance, and animate competition for all sections, the Americans being interested. Choice compared with the July sales, and all merinos, firmly maintained their prices. The finer crossbreds were firm, and medium coarse classes five to ten per cent, higher.

ADDINGTON MARKETS. By Telegraph. Christchurch, September 16. There was a fair entry at Addington today. Fat Cattle.—266 head came forward, including a large proportion of prime steers. Steers £7 15s to £l4 2s 6d, heifers £6 to £ll 17s 6d, cows £5 to £ll, extra prime £l3. Fat Sheep.—A fair entry, consisting principally of wethers. These met with a very brisk demand, and the market was firm at a slight advance on last week's prices. Prime wethers 24s 3d to 295, medium and light 18s 6d to 23s 9d, prime merinos 18s 9d to 22s 3d, lighter 13s 4d to 18s 6d, prime ewes 23s lOd to 26s 3d, extra heavy 26s 6d to 28s 3d, light and unfinished 16s to 18s, wethers and ewes 21s 3d to 24s 6d.

CHRISTOHUROFI GRAIN AND PRO DUCE MARKETS. (Lytteltoa Times.)

The loc-al grain market is particularly dull at present. There is still a fair inquiry for wheat at the prices quoted below, butvery little is offering. The inquiry from Melbourne, mentioned in last report, did not result, in business, the recent rise in prices having checked any disposition to speculate that might have existed in that quarter. Latest Sydney advices state that Japan as well as Hongkong is inquiring for soft wheat flour, so far without result. In oats there is some demand for Canadians, but it is limited, and offerings are scarce. In other classes business is at a. standstill. Potates would probably have eased, con, sequent on a slacker demand, but the fulfilment of a few orders has kept prices at their former level. In. seeds there is a brisk demand, Italian ryegrass in particular being keenly sought after. The export trade, in cocksfoot continues satisfactory. In dairy produce, eggs are firmer, probably duo to f.he operations of the local freezing company, which is buying extensively with the object, it is stated, of shipping, to South Africa.
