NORTH OTAGO CRICKET ASSOCIATION

The animal meeting was 'held in the Star and Garter Hotel on Saturday evening, ■when Mr J. S. Holmes occupied the chair. The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed and then the annual report, which was duly adopted, was read as follows: "Yonr Committee are pleased to be able to report that the Association las passed successfully through the second year of its existence, and that it continues to enjoy •the confidence and support of the cricketers of North Otago. " Trophies.—At our last annual meeting it was a matter of general regret that the Association had not been Ale to procure a suitable trophy for the teams' competition. Mr John. 15 or ton, however, came to our assistance and presented the Association with a valuable silver cup. This placed the Association in a comfortable position and with the funds at their disposal another cup was procured for the batting trophy. Mr Borton's action is deserving of the deepest gratitude of the Association. But for his kindness many years must have elapsed before the Association could have procured anything suitable. "Premiership.—After an exciting season cricket the premiership was won by Oamaru B. with 19 points. Tureka. playing a drawn game in the first round was the only team to score against them. The most- exciting and closest game of the season was the first round game between Capulet and Oamaru B. -where the B. team were returned victorious by the very -small margin of one run. Oamaru .A- is second on the list with 16 points and Tureka (last season's premiers) third with 13 points. "Batting Average.—The averages at foot show that R. C. Hewat was the most successful of our batsmen and he holds the cup for the season. It would havtx been a pity had the cup gone down to posterity without- the veteran's name engraved-upon it. "Bowling Average.—The same player is also at the head of the bowling list. There is not however any bowling trophy An existence and this it must be admitted is a matter of some regret. . "Notice Board.—The Association, in conjunction with the local clubs, has erected a notice board at Mr A. Fraser's shop. This board is of considerable convenience to the Association and to players .generally. The thanks of all concerned are due to Mr Fraser for his permission to erect, the beard. *. "General. —Everything in connection 'with the Association, is working smoothly, "while .in our rules provision has been made for most points over which disputes might otherwise have arisen. Friction between competing teams has thus been avoided. "The long delay between the rounds last sea-son had a deadening effect on cricket and in order to avoid' -a repetition- of this your Committee would suggest that three rounds be arranged this season."
