Ifc is the popular belief in Scotland that the sword of William Wallace, the friend of Bruce, and the hero par excellence of Scottish romance, lies, with other relics, in Stirling Castle. This, according to the story of Duncan M'Pherson M'Tavish of Philadelphia, is a popular mistake. He alone has the sword of the Scottish warrior, ana he says it has been handed down from Bire to son in the M'Tavish clan for centuries. The sword which the esteemed Highlander proudly exhibits to his friends is a most formidable weapon. It is exactly 6ft 4in in length, and weighs somewhat over 271b. No ordinary man can hold ifc onfe at arm's length, not even Sandow conld wield ifc for five minutes.
