Further details of the capture of Bedmanai Pass by the force under General Elles show that the tribesmen refused to face the bayonets, but stubbornly held the Pas 3 for four hours against the attacking columns until they were demoralised by shell* from the maxim guns. The Moliah of Sufii, who with 2000 of hut followers reinforced the Mollah of Hadda in order to strengthen the courage of hi* adherents and remove the feara of the GbalghaU tribesmen, many believing they would be killed, promised that Allah would close the muzzles of their opponents' guns. Received September 27, at 1.-10 p.m. Calcutta, September 26. The upper Swats have submitted and surrendered their rifles to the British authorities. The mollabs Hadda and Sufii have fled to Ningrabra amid the curses of the tribesmen. Hadda fell from his horse and had subsequently to be carried l>y his followers on a litter.
