Brooke, an ex-Congregational minister, brought an action against London Truth (Labouchere's paper, claiming damages in respect to an article accusing him of imposture by means of begging letters. The trial resulted in a verdict for the defendant newspaper. Yesterday Brooke's son met Labouchere in the street and assaulted him. Mr Justice Yaughan Williams _ has sanctioned the Queensland National Bank's re-arrangement scheme. Received June 6, at 5.20 p.m. London, June 4. Me Whiteway, Premier of Newfoundland, is negotiating with Lord Salisbury for a settlement of the French shore question o£ Newfoundland. By the Treaty of Paris French fishermen were granted certain rights on the coast of Newfoundland, and they now claim the exclusive right to fish along the coast from Cape John to Cape Ray, and frequent troubles have arisen over these claims. Berlin. June 4. The trial of Tausch and Lutzow has concluded. Tausch was acquitted and Lutzow was sentenced to two months' im prisonment. The fact that Herr Marsclial Bieberstem has taken a holiday is accepted as ?n indication of a nossible Ministerial crisis.
