A New Butter Box.

There is now on exhibition in Oamaru a new enamelled imporou3 butter box, which is the very thing for conveying butter long distances, or for keeping it in a purely fresh state for any length of time until required for use. This is a newly patented enamel, and it is claimed for it that it contains what as the mildest and most harmless of antiseptics. Messrs Holdersen and Keilson, butter experts, of Victoria, reported upon butter from New Zealand packed in these boxes, and which had been in them in a cool chamber only, that the butter, in their opinion, had been packed about one month and had opened out perfectly sweet and fresh, and that the portion coming in contact with the box was not in any way deteriorated. Messrs Carter and Co., a month afterwards, reported upon the same butter that it was keeping perfectly sweet and fresh. The boxes will be on exhibition at the Queen's Hotel until Saturday, and then at Mr Oakden's office, Tyne-street.

heads to the soil heaps. It is not so bad as that In New Zealand, thongh there are some who would foe quite prepared to see it so.
