' A sensational case of suicide occurred at 3 the South Head to-day. A man, name J unknown, called at tho hotel and had a I drink. He stated that a woman had . promised to meet him, but had failed to [ keep her promise. He added that she i, had been the ruin of his life, and t.hon . coolly walked to the edge of tho cliff and 1 leaped a distance of 200 feet into the sea. r The body was recovered. Newcastle, April 14. Sailed—Hauroto, for Wellington. Melbourne, April 14. - Sailed—Tarawera, for Bluff. The Cabinet lias appointed Mr Mathio--3 son, of Queensland, general managet of the Victorian railways for a term of fivo [ years at a salary of L 3500 per annum.
