THE SITUATION IN TURKEY.

The Speaker's Constantinople correspondent confirms the first statement, and adds that tne Sultan sent famous jewels to the Czar and presents worth L 35,000. The Times' Vienna correspondent wires that it is reported that the Sultan of Turkey proposes to lavishly decorate Russian and French diplomatists. Receive-.! January 27, at 0.40 p.m. Washington, January 25. The Senate has adopted the report of the Committee respecting the difficulty in Armenia. Received January 27, at 11.15 p.m. Constantinople, January 26. The Sultan denies the agreement with Russia. Vienna, January 26. The Freie Presse says that Europe cannot permit any single power to direct the destinies of Turkey.
