William O'Reilly, and o*en Cutlen Owen, were found guilty of conspiracy to defraud their creditors, and sentenced to three years' hard labor. William O'Reilly w also fnnnd guilty of perjury, and sentenced to 12 month.-/ hard labor, to be concurrent with the previous sentence. J\.hn Dorris, a fi-herman. was fined LlO and L2 ISi costs for selling blue cod under Boz.
AUCKLAND. September 14. At a meeting of the Political Committee of the National Awctation a draft of a Udl for Ihe s»pprer»i»n of immorality was received from the Rescue Work Society. A resolution was carried t«» the effect that the Bill would not be effective in suppressing vice, and would be Ii »ble to very grow* abrwos. Mr Jl«s, stcck inspector, visited Mr Josiah Tuttchen's farm at M«ng»whare. 25 mttrS from Cunbrulge. where sheep are said t« be dy>i»2 at the rate of 20 p-;r rfay. He returned last and reported tha*. hundreds of s»heep were dead, evidently from starvation. The mortality is now stopped. He opened some of the bodies and found n«» traces of disease.
