Acclimatisation Society.
The Council of the above Society met yesterday, there being present:—Messrs Mackintosh (in the chair), G. Dennison, Sinclair, Bruce, Dwyer, Milligan, Glen, C. Jones, and Captain Crawford (hon. secretary). "» Routine business was transacted. A motion by Mr George Dennison to rescind the resolution giving rewards for convictions for,-poaching was not carried, and Mr Dennison then gave notice to move at next meeting to take the whole question into consideration again. Sergeant Gibbert again wrote with, reference to the Waihao poaching case, and it was resolved to bring the matter before the United Council at its next meeting. It was resolved that the next meeting be held at 7.30 p.m. Mr Dennison gave notice to move that the license fee for fishing be reduced to 10s, that a month's license. be ss, and a week's license 2s 6d. Mr Mackintosh intimated that he and Mr Aitken had liberated the grayling and the bulk of the Rainbow trout in the Kakanui, below Balruddery. Five of the grayling had died in the race, and it was thought best to liberate them at once.
