The Winton Baby-Farming Case.
(by tf.lkob.vph.) IjcvEßCAßcnx, June 7. Nothing new came out to-day in the Police Court inquiry re the alleged murders by the Deans. The evidence is however, a little closer than that given at the inquest. The Court is sitting late to-night to get through the cases, as the Supreme Court sittings will commence on Tuesday. June 8 At the Magistrate's Court, Mr Poynton committed Minnie Dean for trial for the murder of Dorothy Edith Carter, and discharged Charles Dean. He said that there was no evidence at all against Charles Dean, and that he left the Court without a stain on his character. The police, however, were justified in arrestin? him, as they did not know what evidence might crop up. He thought that where husband and wife lived together and bodies were found buried in their garden it was quite within reason that the police should suspect the husband of being connected, and had there been any evidence against hipi at all he would certainly have committed him. Mr Hanlon. solicitor for accused, admitted that the police acted fairly and were entitled to credit for the way they worked up the case. Dean shook hands with his solicitor and left. Mrs Dean will be tried at the sitting of the Supreme Court opening on Tuesday next.
