At a meeting of the Australian Pastoral Company, Limited, the chairman said that the prospects of the Company in tho various colonies were very hopeful. Immense crowds attended the trial of the Marquis of Queensberry on the clurqo of libelling Oscar Wilde. The evidence adduced to-day showed thai Wildo had paid heavy blackmail for his gushina letters to Lord Alfred Douglas (tho Marquis' son), which were found In tho pockets of old clothes when given away. The defence is based on revelations in these letters. News has been received that a Spanish cruiser fired upon and boarded tho British steamer Ethelred off Cuba. Received April 4, at 11 a.m. London, April 3. Live cattle by the steamer Port Chalmers from Sydney is reported from Perim to be in excellent condition. The total quantity of wheat and (lout afloat for the United Kingdom is 3,531.000 quarters, and for the Continent! 1,000,000 quarters.
