Waitaki High School Board of Governors.

The monthly meeting of the Waitaki High School Board of Governors was held this morning, there being present Messrs D. Borrie (chair), Waddell, Sutherland, and Montagu. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and-confirmed. The Secretary's action with regard to asking for a reduction of the rate of interest on mortgage was approved, the application having been favorably responded to. A notification was read from the Education Board that Mr Borrie had been appointed to represent them on the Board. Mr Borrie was unanimously elected Chairman for the ensuing year. An application from the N.Z. and A.L. Co. to close the road on the south side of Education reserve 2 of 46, Block VIII, Oamaru, was agreed to. The Secretary, under resolution, placed before the Board a list of arrears of fees, when it was resolved that notice be given to defaulters that unless paid by next Board meeting, legal proceedings would be instituted for recovery. In compliance with the recommendation of the last meeting of the Board, the question as to teaching cookery at the Girls' High School was discussed, when it was resolved that the Board form itself into a committee, two to form a quorum, to carry out arrangements as to forming cookery classes. Accounts amounting to L 65 16s lOd were passed for payment. It was reported that the repairs and alterations to the Boys' School were almost completed, and the secretary was authorised to pay the contractor. The Board then rose.
