In the Assembly the Premier intimated in reply to a question that the Government intended to take the financial straits of the colony into consideration during the recess. The Government had not been approached by depositors with a scheme for releasing the funds in reconstructed institutions. If snch a scheme were admitted it would be the duty of the Government to give it careful consideration. This reply seemed to amuse the House. The Ministers, Members and Judges Salaries Bill and the Primage Duty Repeal Bill passed their final stages. On consideration of the report on the Governor's Salary Rednction Bill the Premier moved to reinstate L7OOO instead of LSOOO, which was carried by 42 to 34, and the Bill was finally passed. Not a farm escaped inundation. A man named Corbett was drowned. *The floods in the Manning River are the heaviest since 1876. Farms are submerged in all directions, but the water is now receding.
