NEW SOUTH WALES TEAM V. CANTERBURY. [by telegraph.] Christchurch, September 13. The football match, Canterbury v. New South Wales, was played to-day at Lancaster Park The weather was fine, and there were over 3000 spectators. The Canterbury won by 11 points to 3. At the close of the first spell good passing by the Canterbury backs let White score, and Balch converted. In the second spell Balch and Menzies scored tries, each time as the outcome of good passing tactics amongst the backs. Riley scored in the second spell for New South Wales. The game was not very interesting, but was hard fought, and in the last ten minutes decided symptoms of rough play appeared. Orchard (Canterbury's fullback) was unable to play, and his place was taken by Wilson.
