Fire.
(by telegraph.) Palme r.stox North, September 12. A second fire broke out at Fitzherbert's law buildings at 2.55 this morning. A two-storey building was completely destroyed. The houses on each side, occupied respectively by Harris (chemist) and Withers, were burned through the roof. The contents of both were saved, though injured by handling. Fitzherbert lost a valuable law library, and several deeds were partially destroyed. Haggit, his managing clerk, lost a law library, valued at Ll5O. The Percivals, father and son, one a musician and the other an artist, lost property valued at L2OO, including a collection of paintings, and were not insured. Fitzherbert's insurances are L 550 in the New Zealand office and LIOO in the National. He estimates his loss at LSOO. Haggit's library was insured for LSO in the Norwich Union office. The origin of the fire is unknown.
