BY TELEGRAPH.) Wellington, September 10. At a full meeting of the stewards of the Wellington Racing Club the programme for the season 1894-95 was discussed. The dates fixed for the three meetings are— Thursday and Saturday, 22nd and 24th November ; summer meeting Tuesday (Anniversary Day) and Thursday, 22nd and 24th January, 1895 ; autumn and steeplechase meeting (combined) —Wednesday and Friday, May Ist and 3rd, the added moneys for the meetings being L 965, L 1855, and L 1215 respectively, an increase of L 260 on the stakes paid in the past season. Mr J. C. Evett was reappointed handicapper j Mr Roake was appointed clerk of the course, and Mr Andrew Young starter for the ensuing season; Mr E. Pearce was appointed delegate to the conference in Christchurch, vice Dr Newman. In view of the legislation requiring a reduction in _ the number of race meetings the committee decided to recommend a discontinuance of the following: Akauri Maori Racing Club, United Hunt Club, Porirua Jockey Club, and Pahiatua Jockey Club, or the Lower Valley Jockey Club. The stewards passed a resolution regretting that Mr Joseph Saunders had not been re-elected one of their colleagues at the annual meeting, and and a special vote of thanks was placed on record for his past services.
