The Mayor has received the following letter, which explains itself : Dunedin, June 1, 1894To the Mayor, Oaroaru. Dear Sir, —At a meeting of convened by the Mayor, and held in the City Council Chamber, on Tuesday evening. May 29, the following resolution ff ß3 _ carried unanimously;—" That this meet' ing of citizens, in hearty appreciation ° r the distinguished public services, jj° ungrudgingly given at all times by the late Rev. Dr Stuart during his lifetime* hereby resolve that the public be in. vlt ** to raise by subscription a memorial i j( some degree worthy of these servicesBy instructions of the Committee I ™ s the honor to invite your cordial co-op M*' tion in raising funds for the memory and enclose subscription list for "> purpose. The form the memorial j» take will be decided upon at a p" D meeting of subscribers. You are invited to begin the canvass of your dism as soon as convenient, so as to en the subscription list to be returned a* w earliest possible date. Yours faithfully, John Davps, Secretary.
