Harbor Board.
A meeting of the Harbor Board was held this morning, there being presentMessrs Barr (chair), Holmes, Darling, Rose, Borrie, Finch, Allan, Waddell, and Menlove. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Bluff Harbor Board wrote asking on what terms the Board would let the dredge. It was resolved to reply that the dredge would be let on the same terms as to the Government. Treasury notes amounting to L 417 9a 3d were received. Messrs J, and T. Meek wrote claiming L 75, payment of rent of siding, which they thought the Board were liable for. It was resolved that Messrs Meek be informed that the Board cannot recognise the claim. Mr Sutherland reported re sweetbriar at Otematata that there were some patches that should be taken up, and recommended that the work be let in the spring. It was resolved that the matter stand over until the proper time for doing the work. Messrs Campbell and Sons wrote declining to pay rate 3 to the Board without the sanction of the receiver. It was resolved that the Secretary be instructed to write that uuless payment were made by the 31st instant the matter would be placed in the hands of the Board's solicitor. The docking and repairs of the dredge and completion of the dredging were referred to the Standing Committee, wit" power to act, as was also the insurance of the Board's various buildings. It was resolved to prepare rate books in the usual form. Accounts amounting to L48114s were passed for payment. The Board then rose.
