School Vacations.
MAEREWHENUA SCHOOL. The annual distribution of prizes at this School took place on Thursday. The chairman of the committee distributed the prizes. There were a number of the parents present. After complimenting the children on the singing, the chairman proposed that they should give cheers for the teacher. Miss Beveridge. He then dismissed the school for sis weeks. The following is the prize list:— Standard V—Alice Adams, 1 Standard IV—Boys: Harry Bloomfield, 1; Albert Bailey, 2. Girls: Mary Bullen, 1 ; Maggie Cooper, 2 Standard 111 —John Bailey, 1; Rose M'Cann, 2 ; Maud Adams, 3 Standard ll—Amelia Bailey, 1; Winnie Wilson and William Bloomfield (equal), 2; George Barnes, 3 Standard I—William Bailey, 1; Maggie Weir, 2 Infants—Mary Adams, 1 ; Harry Adams, o Sewing prizes—Helen Wilson, 1 ; Alice Bloomfield, 2; Rose M'Cann, 3; Amelia '■ Bailey, 4 Mental—Patrick M'Cann, 1; William Barnes, 2 i Attendance Harry Bloomfield, Alice Bloomfield, Amelia Bailey, William Bloomfield, Winifred Thorp Conduct—Stafford Adams Recit.ition—Alexander M'Donald Writing—Archibald M'Donald. Special prizes were given by Mrs Simpson and Mias Beveridge.
