Oamaru Mail Office, Saturday afternoon. Very little business is done as a rule the week before Christmas, and this week has proved no exception <to the rule. There is practically nothing to report in the way of transactions. Wheat is quiet. There are very few oats in the market and no barley. Potatoes are easier as supplies come forward, and Dune'din 'reports the market glutted. There are comparatively few in crop locally, and the tuber should be good goods later on. There will doubtless be some moves speculatively shortly. Dairy produce is slightly harder on account of the Christmas demand. We quote : -. Wheat—Tuscan, 2s 6d to 2s 8d; velvet, 2s 7d to 2s 8d; red straw, 2s 7d ; Molds, 2s 7d"; good whole.fowls', 2s (at store). " Oats—Prime short oats, Is lOd; Danish, Is 9d; Tartars, Is 8d to Is 9d (at store, sacks extra). Barley, 3s 6d to 4s; feed, Is 9d to 2s, nominal. Chaff—Prime oaten sheaf, L2 15s; straw, L2 ss. Flour—Roller, 200's, L 8; 100's, L 8 10s; 50's, L 8 15s. Stone, LI less. Bran, L2 15s. Pollard, L 3. Potatoes (new), L 5 per ton at the railway siding (sacks in). Dairy Produce—Butter, prime, 6d to 7d ; seconds, sd. Eggs, 7d. Pork, 3Jd (heads and feet on).
