Panic, French Consul-General, who withdrew during the height of the dispute, has returned here. Received August -, at 1 a.m.] Bangkok. August 1. France demands that the Siamese shall evacuate Chantahoiig and South-east Bangkok : also, that Siam shall keep no warships mi the Mekong. Seven additional French warships have arrived off Ko--tchang. Received August 2, at 10.30 a.m.] Lo.vno.v, Ausust 1. The Standard thinks that in the face of the S'amese acceptance of the French ultimatum the blockade will be raised immediately. Received August 2, at 10 40 a.m.] Lonpon, August 1. The Standard's Paris correspondent says that Lord Dutierin and M. Deville have signed a protocol settling the differences over the Siamese boundaries and arranging for a neutral zone. Lord Dutierin will return to England to-mor-row. The Daily News correspondent at Bangkok says that Admiral Humaiin has issued orders for a fresh blockade and ordered the Pallas and Swift to withdraw. It is feared that the French intend to attack Bangkok and hold it as a guarantee. Sir E. Grey, when <|iiestioned in the House of Commons said that the Government had not received any confirmation of the report that the blockade had been raised, but he declined to enter into details. The Paris papers confirm the statement in the Standard as to a settlement, but the Bangkok correspondent of the Times wiring says that it is feared the French admiral is acting under divergent orders. Pauis, August 1. Tt is officially stated that Siam has agreed to give the guarantee demanded by France. (SPECIAL TO PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Received August 2, at 11.30 a.m.] Pauis, August 1. Admiral Humann is demanding the ce-sion of the port of Chantabun as a guarantee. Much alarm is said to be felt in Bangkok in consequence.
