The balance-sheet of the Atlas Milling Company shows a profit of L 4343, after writing off nearly LSOOO for depreciation. The managing director reports a busy year, the mill running full time night and day, except a month for overhaul. Competition, he states, is increasing, and New South Wales is practically lost as a market. They were endeavoring to meet these adverse influences by writing down and seeking markets in other colonies. A drying nor-wester has set in.
