Yesterday afternoon a team from the Oamaru Club played the Combined Schools when an enjoyable game was drawn, rather in favor of the latter. The Schools were the first to go to the wickets, and after two and a-half hour's slow scoring wore all out for 00, towards which Ferguson contributed 37 by steady play, for which score he was at the wickets two hours. Maude W. M'Donald, Fitzgerald, and Earl also aided the total materially. Hewat, who was somewhat " off" in his bowling at tirst, has rather a good tail to his average —55 balls, Dmdns, 4 runs, 6 wkts. The Club were placed at a disadvantage in having to play in a bad light, and this fact, together with a desire to run too " short," was responsible for the poor display they made, nine wickets falling for 30 runs. G. Macdonald took four wickets for 15 runs. The fielding of both sides ,vas remarkably good, and Spence is to be specially complimented oil his almost perfect efforts in this department.
