Presbyterian Assembly.
[by teleokaph. I Auckland, February 11. A prolonged debate was held on the report re training of students, strong objection being taken to the recommendation from the Christchurch Presbytery that greater prominence be given to the employment of lay missionaries. No decisiou could be arrived at, and the report was eventually shelved by a motion that it he received. Dissatisfaction was expressed that a larger number of ministers did not take advantage of the Widows' and Orphans' and Aged and Infirm Ministers' Funds. A resolution was passed that it be an instruction to the Committee to consider the desirability of the incorporation of both funds.
