Destructive Gale.
(by telegraph. ) Do'Edin, February 11. The damage to tlie railway line at the Taieri has been sufficiently repaired to allow of trains running to-morrow on the Outrarn line. However, the water is still three feet deep on the railway line. The water on the plain is rapidly subsiding, and by Saturday probably some idea of the damage may be gathered. Invercahgill, February 11. On Tuesday an immense quantity of rain fell in the Lumsden district. The township was inundated for a time, some damage being done to gardens, stores, and dwellings. The Dome bridge on the Kingston line, was partially washed out. It will probably be a week before traffic is possible over it.
