The Napier Show.

(BY TELEGRAPH.) Napier, October 8. The Hawke's Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society's show opened to-day. As usual, the day was devoted to sheep. In merinos, only R. D. M'Lean, Royse and Anderson, and the Hakima Station exhibited. The first-named all but swept the board of prizes. In longwools, the competition was keen, a large proportion coming from beyond the provincial district. The Hon. M. Holmes took two champion cups for Lincolns, and a number of first prizes were taken for sheep bred by Mr J. Reid, but exhibited by local owners. Mr Reid was also very successful in Romney Marsh. Mr R. Harding beat all competitors in Shropshires. There were no Leicesters, Cotswolds, or Southdowns exhibited. The long wool pens wera the great feature of the show.
