WELLINGTON. October 1. Christian Foxward, Danish Consul, fell down in the street last night while on his way home from a visit to a friend. He was carried to his house, but died almost immediately. Heart disease was the cause. He was an architect by profession, and a native of Copenhagen. He arrived in the colony 30 years ago, and was formerly a resident in Southland.
The Kaikoura arrived at Hobart this morning. She will leave again for Wellington at 4 this afternoon. Captain Rose, manager of the local branch of the New Zealand Shipping Company, is a passenger. AUCKLAND. October 1. The only nominations for the Waikato were Messrs W. A. Murray and E. Lake. In the Supreme Court, in banco, Judge Conolly refused a motion for a new trial in Irwin and Lovett v. Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board.
NELSON. October 1. The Bishop of Nelson still lies in a semi-conscious state, and he is gradually getting weaker.
NEW PLYMOUTH. October 1. The Taranaki Herald learns that there is some probability of the colony losing Mr Sawers, dairy expect, as he has been offered the position of manager of one of the Victorian agricultural colleges, at a salary much higher than he is receiving in New Zealand.
