WELLINGTON. September 21. During last week, 91 men, principally bush fellers from the south, obtained employment through the Government Bureau. Fifteen were sent by the Salvation Army. Mr M "Intush, Member for Wallace, will leave by the Waihora for the south this afternoon. The lion, member is seriously ill, and his condition is causing grave anxiety. TIMARU. September 21. The dwelling of W. O'Bryan, brickmaker, was destroyed by fire at 3 a.m. Nothing Wiis saved. Insured for L2OO in the Standard office, and L 175 in the Victoria. Between Saturday night and this morning the office of 3lr Knubley, solicitor, w;ts entered by breaking a back window. Two cash-boxes and two deed-boxes were burst open, and three cheques for L 9 9s and some cash and stamps were taken. The papers were tossed about, but none arc missed. The safe was not meddled with.
