OA3tAK.tr MaIT. OfB'I'JFT, Saturday afternoon. The markets thU week have shown comparatively little activity. There is still some life and inquiry stirring, but few out and out transactions are recorded. The bulk of next season's crop promises to be wheat, most of the farmers putting in large quantities of the cereal. A good quantity of oats have also been sown, bat little barley. Potatoes are almost neglected, it being realised that Oaniarvt potatoes are practically a thing of the past, as in the last two years tlw North Island and South Canterbury have sprung into the market with prolific yields of the tuber, far surpassing the local yietd. There has been a good inquiry during the week for wheat, which remains firm at quotations. There is not much of good quality offering locally. Oats are much the same, few offering, and the quality poor and discotoced. A linw of Tartars changed hands this morning at Is 3.U1. Barley is quite nominal, and almost unsaleable. Potatoes are hopelessly Hat. Sydney reports an over supply, and no prospect of a rise in prices at present. Other things unaltered.
