Mr Fisher's and The Hutchison's Intentions.

(by telegraph.) (from our own correspondent.) Wellington, June 9. Mr George Fislier, whose letter to the Evening Press declaring that the party, in insulting him as it did, had placed an indignity upon him which it must expiate, was generally taken as an expression of an intention to oppose the present Ministry, has had a long conversation with me on the subject. He disclaims any intention to oppose the Liberal party, and declares his readiness to support all liberal measures. He considers, however, that this indignity freed him from any personal adhesion to the present Ministry, because it would be unfair to expect, him to submit to a second insult. He. showed me documentary evidence in support of his assertion that he in no way sought the position j it was offered and then withdrawn. He positively assures me that he will in no sense, ally himself with the Conservative faction, or with the personal following of Messrs Rolleston, Bryce, or Russell, and allows me to repeat that assertion. From other sources I conclude that Mr Fisher will play the part of a very candid friend and preserve a strict independence. He is not at all likely to degenerate into a mere personal follower of Sir George Grey, and, whether lie will seek to form a middle party of his own, time alone will show. Mr George Hutchison is likely to take up a similar role. He will give the Government support upon all matters of principle, but is likely to be troublesome on the land and native questions. He is another man to whom everything goes wrong if he is not in office.
