The Land Laws.
The Wanganui Heroic! concludes an article on the .subject of land legislation as follows: —The time has come for a reformation on this subject. and it is evident the Liberal Party and its representatives, the present Government, are not going to neglect the work it finds so long shelved by it* opponents, but on the contrary intends to teat the feeling of the country on this and other important reform* without loss of time. If tlie propOHals of the Government .ire fair and reasonable, as we expect them to be. the majority of the Hoti.se of Representatives will support the measures introduced to give effect to them ; but a different fate wiU await these measures in the Council, ■which has been staffed for the purpose by the land-grabbers with members who will vote against any Liberal measures that may be deemed by them inimical to the interests of themselves or their friends. A fierce conflict will be the result, and the outcome the reformation of the Upper Chamber, which cannot exist much longer aa at present constituted.
