A deputation from the Auckland Knights of Labor waited on the direotors of the Kauri Timber Company re grievances of their employees, Bach as different localities, the truck system, charging, commission on the men's cheques for wages, and other matters. The directors expressed great surprise that each grievances existed, and promised a searohing Investigation end ample redress if found to be true. In the meantime they have authorised the deputation to wire to all tbe timber stations that tbe men are absolutely tree to purchase atores wherever they please. NEW PLYMOUTH. July 18. There was considerable Inquiry for land io the district at the Land Office yeaterterday. For five sections, averaging between 800 and 900 acres each, there were 68 applicants. Complaints are made at the Government not putting the land at the back of the Wharero and Makeo reserves into the market, and of the want of a road to that part of the country to enable strangers to see the land.
