Iu tho absouce of Mr Dunoan, who had given notice of the question, Mr John M'Kenzle to-day asked tho Minister for Lands, " If it 1b true ihat he gave instructions to Mr Commissioner Maitland to ndvortise the last sale of land In the Waitakl district In the Oamaru papers ; if so, were his instructions carried out; if not carried oat, will the Minister explain why t" Tho Minister replied that suoh instructions were given ; but that a few days before tho sale he received a telegram from Dunedln stating that the instructions had not come to hand in time to bo ad* vantageously aoted upon. Mr Duncan has given notice to ask the Minister for Linds, " (1) If he will obtain the opinion of the Attorney-General and the Crown Solicitor as to whether the receut sale of land at Kurow to the New Zealand and Australian Land Company is in accordance with the provisions of the Lind Aot, seeing that' the purchasers were already the holders of 200,000 aores of land ; (2) if the slid Bile is in contravention of the Aot, will the Minister oanoel the same 1"
