In the Supreme Court to-day a sheep farmer named Markham recovered LISOO from the Government, being the amount of damages claimed for vaiue of Bheep which plaintiff alleged had contracted scab In the Government quarantine ground, rendering nicassary the subsequent destruction of the whole flock. Sailed—Ashlelgh Brook, for Napier. H.M.S. Orlando, with Admiral Fairfax, leaves next week for New Zealand. Thubsday Island, December 4.
News from the per British and India Company's steamer, states that Townsend, agent for the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank, at Manilla, bad been prosecuted for a systematic evasion of the stamp regulations, but the charges were subsequently withdrawn. Townsend is now claiming heavy damages, in which course he is beingstrongly supported by the British Cornel.
